Growing up, I always heard people say “Surround yourself with good people and you will be happy.” It wasn’t until recently when I finally listened to this little piece of advice and started to reap the benefits of this simple, yet excellent idea. Most of us don’t even realize that we surround ourselves with people who constantly judge others and ourselves, bring us down, and have a crappy attitude about life. Sometimes it is because they are “fun people” or people who hide their negativity with sarcasm. Or to go to the extreme, they may just be a complete sociopath. (been there, down that!) My advice if you find yourself unhappy and unsure of your close (or far) circle of friends and family is this…
STOP LETTING PEOPLE WHO DO SO LITTLE FOR YOU CONTROL SO MUCH OF YOUR MIND, FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS!
It may be hard to let some of these people go in your life for various reasons. Maybe you hold onto these people because of loneliness or you feel bad and don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. OR you think they can change. I’ve done it for all of these reasons. At the end of the day you are the only person who is responsible for your happiness and well being. Why not do yourself a favor and start living for you and begin to make room for people who motivate you, encourage you, inspire you, enhance you AND MAKE YOU HAPPY!
